Primeiramente, aos que esperam de mim alguma atualidade, desculpo-me. Mas rejeito a ideia de perder meu tempo precioso para escrever sobre pseudos ídolos sem vacina. Portanto, hoje trago minha percepção sobre a leitura da biografia de Rico de Souza. Não quero dizer que a biografia de Rico de Souza é leitura obrigatória para qualquer surfista, mas direi. Além da riqueza cultural que a obra transmite, por meio dos relatos pessoais do biografado, o livro é de uma leveza ímpar.

Capítulos permeados por fatos marcantes como o dia em que Rico surfou com a Tocha Olímpica e a maneira como ele encarou o desafio, com tremenda responsabilidade. Até a experiência de fugir da repressão policial na Ditadura, que por muito pouco não alterou de vez a história dele e por que não do surfe brasileiro. São muitos os capítulos que empolgam.
A biografia de Rico de Souza é uma incrível oportunidade de conhecer melhor o grande ícone nacional, que diferente de tantos outros ícones, está vivinho da silva, ativo e construindo mais e mais história.
Dito isso, se há então um único defeito neste livro, refere-se ao fato de que talvez daqui a alguns anos e novas conquistas e vivências de Rico, uma nova biografia seja necessária.
Rico de Souza é uma lenda do esporte, que para quem viveu os anos 80 como eu acompanhando o esporte, viu esse cara abrir um caminho naquilo que era somente possível aos nativos do Havaí e/ou costa oeste dos EUA. Boa lembrança! Saudações santistas.

Ola! sou simpático a causa surfística tem quase 40 anos. Não surfo, mas o que me atrai(a) no esporte (é) era justamente o viés “transgressor” e ao mesmo tempo belo. O rock como trilha sonora, as paisagens, as posturas assumidas, vivências…hábitos alimentares y otras cositas más. Tem muita coisa boa no combo surfe que é pra todo mundo… O surfe, com tudo que um esporte comporta, sempre teve o diferencial de ser leve (vc fala da leveza da biografia do Rico), acho q isso q me fez ter no surfe a paixão que os brasileiros normais tem por futebol. Sento na areia da praia da Macumba pra ver a galera surfando e chamo de “Meu Maracanã. Hj em dia a atmosfera do surf está um pouco fútil, na minha opinião de espectador de carteirinha. Posso estar errado ou descontextualizado, mas me senti seguro pra compartilhar isso aqui.
